Looksmaxxing: what actually works — and what doesn’t.

Looksmaxxing is the practice of deliberately improving how your face reads — through sleep, skin, body fat, training, posture and grooming in its ordinary form, and through surgery in its extreme one. LOOKSMAXBRO takes the first half only: every habit it teaches carries a grade for how much research stands behind it, and anything that risks a joint, a tooth or a bone stays out of the app by design.

Softmaxxing and hardmaxxing — and which one this is

Looksmaxxing splits into two halves that share nothing but a name: softmaxxing, which is everything a habit can change, and hardmaxxing, which is surgery and the homemade tricks that imitate it. LOOKSMAXBRO is a softmaxxing app. The first list below is the whole product; the second is the part LOOKSMAXBRO says no to, with the reason attached to each line.

Softmaxxing — what LOOKSMAXBRO teaches

  • Sleep strong Most of what reads as a tired, puffy face in the morning is fluid and a short night. It is also the fastest thing on this list to fix.
  • Sunscreen every morning strong The single best-supported thing you can do to your face, and the reason a men’s routine can be three steps instead of ten.
  • Cleanse and moisturize, morning and evening strong Two minutes twice a day, gentle both times. The catalog grades the morning routine and the evening cleanse the same as the sunscreen that follows them.
  • Training and body-fat level strong Cheekbones and a jaw line are largely what is left when the fluid and the fat go. Nothing done to the face beats this.
  • Teeth: brushing twice, floss once strong A smile is half the face in a photograph, and this is the only part of the list a dentist would also have told you.
  • Posture and neck work moderate A head that sits forward shortens the jaw line from every angle a camera sees. Chin tucks, wall holds and back work move it; a brace does the holding for you and teaches nothing.
  • Masseter training and morning drainage weak Light regular loading makes a chewing muscle fuller and a cold morning massage moves fluid. Both are real and both are small — the app grades them weak and says so on the card.
  • Haircut, beard and nails on a cycle weak Grooming has no controlled study behind it and needs none. A cut on a date you keep is the cheapest visible upgrade there is.

Hardmaxxing — what LOOKSMAXBRO does not do

  • Jaw, cheek and chin surgery, fillers, botox out of scope A surgeon’s decision, made with a surgeon. LOOKSMAXBRO gives no surgical advice, ranks no procedures and will not tell you that you need one.
  • “Bone smashing” harmful Hitting your own face to “remodel” it. There is no mechanism for this and there are broken orbits and infected fractures behind it. It is the clearest line on the page.
  • Face pulling and eyelid stretching harmful Dragging at the eyelid to buy a “hunter eye” look stretches skin that does not go back, and the eye area is thin enough to injure.
  • Mewing sold as a way to change bone No study shows tongue posture reshaping an adult skull, and forcing it up strains the jaw joint. As a free posture cue — tongue up, lips closed, nose breathing — it is harmless, and that is the only place it appears in the app.
  • Peroxide whitening strips harmful They lift a shade and take enamel with it. The habit was cut from the catalog for exactly this reason.
  • Posture braces, jaw trainers, chewing gum for a wider jaw A brace does the work your muscles should be doing. Hard chewing tools load the jaw joint for a change nobody has demonstrated.
  • Rating scales borrowed from looksmaxxing forums Homemade one-to-ten scales, invented on forums, used to rank people against each other. LOOKSMAXBRO scores no one against anyone else and publishes no ranking of any kind — the glossary explains the words, and that is as far as they go here.

The rule behind the split is simple: if a habit cannot show its evidence, it ships with the word “weak” printed on it, and if a practice can put you in an emergency room it does not ship at all. Retinoids are not a habit in the LOOKSMAXBRO catalog and carry no grade here; the catalog’s strong skin rows are the morning routine, the evening cleanse and daily SPF.

What actually moves a face, zone by zone

A face moves in five places, and each one has a short list of things that work and a longer list of things that do not. These are the same rows the app grades its habits by — the grade is the catalog’s letter, not our opinion of it — and each zone opens into its own guide as that guide goes live.

Where to start

Start with the zone that bothers you, measure it in your browser, then do the lesson that moves it. Every tool on this site runs on your own device and uploads nothing; every lesson plays its first exercises here before it asks anything of you.

If you are young, or the number is getting to you

If you are young, or the number is getting to you, the thing worth knowing is that looksmaxxing goes wrong in exactly one predictable way: the score stops being a way to track a habit and starts being a verdict on the person. LOOKSMAXBRO is rated 16+, it never ranks you against other people, and it puts your number beside nobody else’s — the only comparison it makes is you against your own last scan.

A face score is a model’s guess at how a panel of strangers would have ranked one photo, taken in one light, at one angle, on one day. That is genuinely useful for noticing that your skin got better over six weeks. It is worth nothing as a statement about you, and it was never built to be one.

If how you feel about your appearance is affecting how you eat, sleep or leave the house, that is a conversation for a doctor, not for an app. LOOKSMAXBRO gives no medical, dermatological or psychological advice, and none of the habits here are treatment.

Questions

The ones people actually type.

Does looksmaxxing actually work?

Looksmaxxing works for the things a habit can move — puffiness, skin, body fat, posture, muscle tone, hair and teeth — and does nothing at all for the shape of your skull. Everything in LOOKSMAXBRO sits in the first group, and every habit carries the grade its evidence earns, so a habit backed by two small studies is labeled weak on the card you do it from.

Is looksmaxxing real, or just a forum meme?

Looksmaxxing is real in the boring sense: sleep, sun protection, training, dental care and posture measurably change how a face reads, and they have decades of research behind them. The word itself came out of online forums, where it usually arrives attached to surgery and homemade rating scales — LOOKSMAXBRO takes the habits and leaves the scales.

How do I start looksmaxxing?

Start looksmaxxing with the three habits that pay first — a full night’s sleep, sunscreen every morning, and a few minutes a day of neck and posture work — and add nothing else until those are automatic. LOOKSMAXBRO builds exactly that into a repeating 30-day plan around the one thing you say bothers you most, then knocks once a day at the hour you pick.

Is looksmaxxing healthy?

Looksmaxxing is healthy as far as its habits are: sleeping enough, wearing sunscreen, training, drinking water and looking after your teeth are good for you whatever they do for your face. It stops being healthy when it turns into starving, hitting yourself in the face or shopping for surgery at nineteen — LOOKSMAXBRO ships only the first kind and marks the rest out of scope in writing.

What is the difference between softmaxxing and hardmaxxing?

Softmaxxing is everything you can change with habits — sleep, skin, body fat, posture, hair, grooming, muscle tone — while hardmaxxing means surgery, fillers and the do-it-yourself tricks that imitate them. LOOKSMAXBRO is a softmaxxing app and does not cover the hardmaxxing half at all, which is a product decision, not a disclaimer.

Does looksmaxxing work for men over 30?

Looksmaxxing works for men over 30, and the best-supported habits on the list pay more at 35 than at 18: sleep, sun protection, body-fat level, dental care and posture are precisely where the gap between doing them and not doing them starts to show. The LOOKSMAXBRO plan is built around the zone that bothers you rather than a birthday.

How long does looksmaxxing take to show results?

Looksmaxxing runs on three different clocks: morning puffiness answers to one good night, skin and grooming take four to eight weeks, and body-fat level and posture are measured in months. LOOKSMAXBRO re-scans your face weekly because a week is long enough for a real change to clear the noise of sleep, salt and lighting, and the per-metric delta between two scans is the only honest way to tell which clock a habit is on. None of the three clocks moves bone.

Softmaxxing, planned for you.

Pick the thing that bothers you. The habits that move it arrive graded, timed, and knocking once a day at the hour you choose.
