The score · Overall, Potential, eight metrics

How the LOOKSMAXBRO face score works.

The LOOKSMAXBRO face score is one Overall number, a Potential number and eight facial metrics, produced on your iPhone by a model that estimates how a panel of human raters would have ranked your photo. It is an aesthetic, entertainment-style metric built to give a habit something to move — not a medical assessment, not a ranking against other people, and not a fact about you.

What the face score actually is

The LOOKSMAXBRO face score is a machine-learning model’s estimate of how a panel of strangers would have ranked one photo of you. The model was trained on public research datasets of faces that panels of human volunteers rated, and predicting those panels is the whole of what it can do.

Three numbers come out of a scan. Overall is that estimate for the photo you just took. Potential is the same estimate for the version of the same face where the things you can work on have moved — the gap between them is the part the program is aimed at. Under both sit eight metrics, scored separately so a habit can be put next to each one instead of next to a single number.

What follows from how it is built matters more than the number itself: the datasets carry the taste of the people who rated them, so the model does too; lighting, angle, camera and expression move the result as much as your face does; and there is no objective, universal measure of attractiveness for it to be right or wrong about. It is a statistical echo of other people’s taste, learned from a few thousand faces.

The scan itself is free and the whole of it happens on the phone — the model ships inside the app, so no photo is uploaded and none is stored on a server. The score with its eight-metric breakdown is the part that needs Pro, unlocked inside the app.

Why the score re-scans weekly, not daily

LOOKSMAXBRO re-scans weekly because a daily face score measures last night more than it measures you. Sleep, salt, alcohol, the light in the room and the angle you held the phone at move a face reading by more than a month of honest work does, and a number that jumps for those reasons teaches you to distrust it or to chase it — both bad outcomes.

The first number takes longer still: it appears after you have scanned on seven separate days, one counted scan a day, so the first score you ever see is already an average rather than one lucky morning. After that the weekly re-scan gives you a delta per metric, which is the only form of this number that can actually tell you whether something worked.

What each of the eight metrics responds to

Each metric responds to a different amount of effort, and being honest about which is which is the point of splitting them at all. Some move with habits you can start this week, some move slowly or only as a side effect of something else, and two of them barely move at all without a surgeon — which is exactly why nothing in the app is aimed at those two.

  • Jawline

Body-fat level first, then masseter tone and where your head sits — a head that carries forward shortens the jaw line from every angle a camera sees. The bone underneath does not change, and nothing in the app claims otherwise.

  • Skin

Sunscreen every morning, and a gentle cleanse and moisturizer morning and evening, with sleep and water behind them. Those three are the strongest-graded habits in the whole catalog, which makes this the line that repays a routine you keep. Retinoids are not a habit in the LOOKSMAXBRO catalog and carry no grade here.

  • Eyes

Sleep, salt and alcohol, then a cold morning drainage pass for the fluid that is already there. The shape of the eye and the tilt of its corners do not change; the tool linked here only measures them.

  • Symmetry

Mostly nothing, and mostly nobody notices: every face is asymmetric. What does move the reading is one-sided swelling and a habitually tilted head, both of which are worth fixing for other reasons anyway.

  • Cheekbones

Body-fat level and fluid. Cheek definition is largely what is left when the puffiness goes, which is why the drainage pass and the training block matter here more than anything done to the cheek itself.

  • Hair

A cut kept on a cycle, and treating the scalp like skin. The app tracks the date you are due rather than the follicle, because the date is the part that actually slips.

  • Nose

Nothing a habit changes. It moves in the score only with swelling, lighting and the angle you shoot from — which is a good reason to shoot the scan the same way every week.

  • Lips

Water, weather and the balm you already own, for dryness and color. Everything past that is a needle or a surgeon, and neither is something LOOKSMAXBRO covers.

Every habit in the app carries the grade its evidence earns, and no lesson attached to a metric promises more than that grade allows.

What the face score is not

The LOOKSMAXBRO face score is not a rank, not a diagnosis and not a verdict, and the app is built so it cannot quietly become one.

  • Not a rank among other people. No leaderboard, no “better than most men”, no share-of-everyone figure of any kind. The only comparison LOOKSMAXBRO makes is you against your own previous scans, metric by metric — a number learned from a few thousand rated photos cannot honestly place you among everybody else, so the app does not try.
  • Not a forum rating scale. The homemade one-to-ten scales that circulate on looksmaxxing forums have no method behind them and nothing to do with this number. The LOOKSMAXBRO score shares nothing with them except being a number.
  • Not medical or psychological. It is not a dermatological, diagnostic or psychological assessment and must never be used as one, or relied on for any health, work or education decision.
  • Not a verdict on you. Use it as a mirror with a number on it and a reason to keep a habit. If how you feel about your appearance is affecting your health, talk to a doctor rather than to an app.

The same wording, in its legal form, is in the Terms of Use — and it is written that way there because it is true, not because a lawyer asked for it.

Questions

About the number.

How accurate are face rating apps?

No face rating app is accurate in the way the question means, because there is no objective attractiveness to be accurate about — a model can only estimate how a particular panel of human raters would have ranked a photo, and different panels disagree with each other. The LOOKSMAXBRO score says exactly that in its Terms, and lighting, angle and expression move it as much as your face does, which is why it is read as a trend and never as a measurement.

What is a good face score?

There is no good LOOKSMAXBRO face score, because the number is not a rank against other people — the only comparison that means anything is your score against your own last one. A metric that climbs over a few weekly re-scans is the signal; the number you start from is just where you started.

How is a face score different from a face rating filter?

The LOOKSMAXBRO face score is a model’s estimate of how a panel of human raters would have ranked a still photo you shot deliberately, kept on your own phone and taken again every week — a face rating filter is a video effect that prints a number and remembers nothing. The difference that matters is the second scan: one number is entertainment, and two numbers a week apart are a signal about a habit.

Is there a free face score app that doesn’t upload your photo?

LOOKSMAXBRO scans your face for free on the iPhone itself, with a model that ships inside the app, so no photo is uploaded and none is kept on a server. The score with its eight-metric breakdown is the part that needs Pro; taking the scan, learning to frame it and the guide inside every card do not.

Why does the LOOKSMAXBRO score only appear after seven scan days?

The LOOKSMAXBRO score appears once you have scanned on seven separate days, one counted scan a day, because a single photo carries one night’s sleep, one room’s light and one angle. Seven days of them average that out, so the first number you see is a baseline rather than a good morning.

Does the face score compare me to other people?

No — the LOOKSMAXBRO face score never compares you to other users, publishes no ranking and shows no share-of-everyone figure. The only comparison inside the app is you against your own previous scans, metric by metric, which is the only comparison the number can support.

Is there a face score test or a face score calculator?

The LOOKSMAXBRO scan is the face score test: you shoot one photo on your own iPhone and a model that ships inside the app estimates how a panel of human raters would have ranked it, then splits that into eight metrics. It is not a calculator in the arithmetic sense — no formula turns a set of measurements into the number, and the free tools on this site measure one thing each, like canthal tilt or symmetry, without scoring anything. Either way the figure is only worth something next to your own previous one.

What do the eight metrics measure?

The eight LOOKSMAXBRO metrics are jawline, skin, eyes, symmetry, cheekbones, hair, nose and lips — the parts of a face raters react to, scored separately so a habit can sit next to each one. Most of them respond to something you can start this week; the rest mostly move with the face around them.

Day 0 can’t be shot later.

The scan is free and runs on your phone. Seven scan days later the breakdown opens, and the weekly re-scan shows you the delta.
